Zoagli is located in the Gulf of Tigullio, enclosed between larger and more populous towns, Rapallo and Chiavari.
The municipal territory naturally includes the coastal area, with the famous pedestrian cliff overlooking the sea, but also a hilly area that exceeds 600 meters, with several villages and small towns.

History
Zoagli was probably founded in prehistoric times by the Ligurian Tigulli. With the arrival of the Romans it became one of the castles located along the Via Aurelia, mentioned in the Tavola Peutingeriana.
After the Lombard and Carolingian periods, in the 12th century it became part of the possessions of the noble Fieschi family of Lavagna and then in the 13th century it passed to the Republic of Genoa, under the podestà and captaincy of Rapallo.
With the arrival of Napoleon, Zoagli became part of the department of the Gulf of Tigullio within the Ligurian Republic. Once the French were defeated, the reorganization of the Congress of Vienna saw the annexation of Liguria first to the Kingdom of Sardinia and then to the Kingdom of Italy.
During the Second World War, on 27 December 1943, Zoagli suffered heavy Allied bombing and was almost completely destroyed.
