Riomaggiore-Manarola

It is the famous Via dell'Amore, Walk of Love. The route starts near the Riomaggiore train station. On the left is the access staircase and after only a few steps you are already overlooking the sea. The vegetation is composed of exotic plants such as agaves, pittosporums, prickly pears and Hottentots and local plants such as sea fennel, marine dauco, wallflower, rue and the rare Brassica robertiana mainly clinging to the most exposed cliffs to the winds. The Mediterranean maquis, on the other hand, is characterized by tree euphorbia, mastic, alaterno and Aleppo pine. In the last stretch of the path you pass under terraced vineyards that dominate the Manarola railway station.

Path 531 Riomaggiore - Manarola (via Beccara)

The ancient connection between Riomaggiore and Manarola, the only one in use until the construction of the railway and the Via dell'Amore. The trail rises steeply from the Riomaggiore train station. From here, along Via Signorini till the intersection on the left with Via Tracastello, it continues into the valley of the Rio Finale canal.
Between cultivated gardens you come to a small bridge, from which the long staircase begins that leads up to the ridge of the Costa Corniolo, and then descends on the left towards Riomaggiore always along an ancient staircase.

Telegrafo - Riomaggiore

From the parking lot of the Telegrafo, go down towards the few houses of Lemmen, beware of the high steps, and continue along a sloping path up to the Sanctuary of Montenero. From here begins the "Via Grande", a path partly clay and partly paved, which leads to Riomaggiore entering near the Lavaccio car park.

Riomaggiore - Madonna di Montenero

From the marina of Riomaggiore, go up steeply towards the coast road, skirt the cemetery and continue to go up again crossing the coast road, then follow it for about 200 meters towards La Spezia and take the long stone starway towards the sanctuary.

Riomaggiore - Sella La Croce

The route of path 501 connects Riomaggiore and the Apennine watershed towards the Val di Vara. Ancient mule track, starts from the Scalinata della Costa, near the castle of Riomaggiore, climbing along land with vines and crossing the coast road, continues to climb steeply for a staircase initially in concrete and then enters the woods along the Costa Campione after crossing the dirt road of the Via dei Santuari (530).
Walk along a wide dirt road and then paved road, before arriving at the Sella La Croce at 637 meters. Here is the sandstone stone engraved with crosses and cupels that gives the place its name.
