Portovenere is located on the western tip of the Gulf of Poets, reachable by land only from La Spezia by car. It is preceded by two small sea village: Fezzano and Le Grazie. As in the Cinque Terre, the main problem is parking in Portovenere.
Arriving by car is quite simple, the motorway exit is La Spezia-Santo Stefano Magra, on the A12-A15. From the toll booth you have to keep left taking the SS370 up to La Spezia, about 10 km away. Pass Via Carducci following the road left onto Viale Italia, then right in front of the arsenal, where it becomes Viale Amendola. At the traffic light at the end, turn left, the signs already indicate Portovenere and the Cinque Terre. You pass the football stadium and at the traffic lights you have to take a slight descent on the left on Via Fieschi (while going straight up you continue towards the Cinque Terre). The road leads in 10 km to Portovenere, passing through Marola, Cadimare, Fezzano and Le Grazie.
