SLEEPING AND EATING AT THE CINQUE TERRE
The Cinque Terre have experienced from the nineties onwards an exceptional tourist boom compared with previous decades. From a holiday destination for Italian families, they have become one of the most visited places in the world for tourists from all over the country, from China to Mexico, from the United States to Russia and all over Europe.
The offer of accommodation in the Cinque Terre has significantly expanded, especially with the birth of new bed & breakfasts, rooms for rent and apartments, alongside the historic presence of hotels. In recent years some farmhouses have also been created, while there are no camping sites in the Cinque Terre area.
Monterosso is the largest and most touristic village, with a vast choice of possibilities for sleeping in the Cinque Terre. Corniglia is the smallest village. In general, however, even in Monterosso, accommodations in the Cinque Terre are not large and usually family-run, with a 3 or 4 star category. The choice of a hotel is usually made by those who want to enjoy above all the sea and the beaches.
For trekking lovers, the ideal solution are b&b and rooms for rent, while for those who want contact with nature, the farmhouse is certainly the best option, even if they are not very close to the villages, but on the hills. So take a good look how to get around Cinque Terre or where to park.
Finally, the hostels are no frills, sometimes with a shared bathroom and kitchen, and in any case the offer of hostels in the Cinque Terre is limited.
Summer, holiday periods (Christmas, Easter), spring weekends are the most popular. Choose well when to visit the Cinque Terre.
Important, parking can be a problem, inquire first with the accommodation if it is included (a few times), the possible cost or not.
